Shock Coronation Street Christmas exit as fan favourite quits the cobbles
A CORONATION Street fan favourite will soon be departing the cobbles.
Viewers recently saw Eileen Grimshaw left furious with George over his Christmas gift to her.
The actor, played by Tony Maudsley treated his partner, who is played by Sue Cleaver, to a new sofa.
But George only realised when it was too late that he accidentally ordered a miniature doll's sofa.
As he struggled to come up with a back up plan, he enlisted the help of Eileen's son Todd.
The pair came up with the idea of using a coffin from the funeral parlour and some cushions to make a pretend settee.

However, it didn't go to plan as Eileen fell into the coffin when she tried out her new couch.
She raged: "What have you got planned for later? Walking off Christmas dinner with a stroll through the cemetery to pick my plot?
"I am not spending Christmas contemplating my own mortality."
But her son Jason surprised her when she received an email with flight tickets to Thailand.
While Eileen will be departing the cobbles fans shouldn't worry as it's only temporary.
Bosses purposely wrote the character out of the soap as Sue, 59, took part in this year's series of I'm A Celebrity.
Despite the ITV1 show airing over a month ago Sue's departure is only airing now as soaps are filmed up to six weeks in advance.
Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
