TV star Donna Air in secret hospital dash after fracturing spine in two places

DONNA Air has revealed she was secretly whisked to hospital after fracturing her spine in two place.

The TV star, 43, has shared a picture of herself in a neck brace and revealed she suffered the horrendous injury two weeks ago.

Donna, who found fame as a teen in kids' show Byker Grove, is thankfully now up on her feet.

But she will still be spending Christmas in her restrictive brace.

Writing on Instagram on Friday night, Donna said: "Well the year has ended with a bang. Just when I thought this Christmas would be without restrictions - I have managed to fractured my spine in two places 🤦‍♀️.

"I guess sometimes we are stopped in our tracks and reminded yet again to keep it simple, looking forward to seeing so many of you when I am back in my dancing shoes.

"Grateful to my nearest and dearest who have kept me smiling these past two weeks especially @freyaaspinalll AKA ‘The elf who saved Christmas.

";A natural COO and the most expert of shoppers."

Donna, who appeared on the 2018 series of Dancing On Ice, signed off: "Sending you all lots of love, Happy Christmas everyone & to those facing their own challenges, remember this too shall pass."

Donna has also shared a picture of herself and her two pals after venturing to the shops.

She is wearing her neck brace but managing to raise a smile for the snap.

The actress and TV presenter's followers have been quick to send their get well messages, including several famous faces.

Model and TV presenter Lisa Snowdon said: "Oh darling that’s horrible. Sending love and a quick recovery xxx."

Former magazine editor Jo Elvin added: "Oh Donna! Rest up ❤️❤️❤️❤️."

Another follower penned: "Wishing you a merry Christmas and a speedy recovery."

And someone else wrote: "Wow! Donna shocked to read this..hope you are firmly on the road to recovery, do rest up and take good care! Merry Christmas."

Donna grew up in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and is best known for her breakout role as Charlie Charlton in Byker Grove.

She later moved on to present MTV Select and then fronted The Big Breakfast.

A string of cameo film roles followed before she participated in reality shows Splash!, Celebrity MasterChef and the tenth series of Dancing On Ice.

Donna is also known for having an on-off relationship for four years with Kate Middleton's brother James Middleton.

They split for good several months after rehearsals for the 2018 series of Dancing On Ice got underway.
