Fans were led to believe the lovable character had met his fate after being caught up in a feud between The Mitchells and Hubbards.

However viewers have spotted a clue that Fatboy is in fact alive.

As Walford residents learned of the sad passing of Dot Cotton, she was given a royal send-off.

On Tuesday's episode EastEnders' latest newbie Reiss Colwell was reading out sympathy cards for the legend.

While in Dot's living room Reiss pulled one of the cards down from the shelf.

"With Deepest Sympathy", it said on the front, but what was inside has shocked fans.

It appeared to be a message from Arthur himself.

It read: "Mrs B - Forever in my heart. Arthur x."

Following the scene, fans have excitedly taken to social media, with one saying: "#EastEnders omg the card it's from Arthur "fatboy" Chubb! He is alive!"

Another said: "I'm sorry but what!!! Mrs B, Forever in my heart, Arthur."

"I never thought he was in the trunk of the car that got crushed! He is coming back like Dirty Den and Kath!" said a third.

"Omg praying he comes back!"; said a fourth.

EastEnders airs on BBC One and iPlayer.
