Alison Hammond breaks down in tears during emotional interview with child cancer survivor
ALISON Hammond was seen breaking down in tears on This Morning today during an emotional interview with a child cancer survivor.
The TV presenter and her co-star Dermot O'Leary both got emotional as they sat down with brave survivor Alyssa.
Alyssa, 13, who is Gok Wan's cousin's daughter, underwent a new form of treatment to treat her leukaemia after being diagnosed last year.
The youngster appeared alongside Gok, 48, and his cousin to discuss how she was treated with a bone marrow transplant after chemotherapy failed to remove the cancer.
Alyssa and her mum Kiona detailed her amazing treatment at Great Ormond Street - and thanked the people who donated their cells.
"Alyssa was diagnosed a year and a half ago, she had a very common childhood leukaemia, but unfortunately conventional medicines didn't work," mum Kiona explained.

"The chemotherapy didn't control it, the radiotherapy, the bone marrow transplant, nothing could get rid of the leukaemia.
"We had the news that her leukaemia hadn't gone... We spoke to the consultants and they said the only option was palliative care.
"They said, 'Anything we try now is research, it's new, we can't guarantee if she will survive it or if it will work'."
The family then agreed to try an experimental treatment, which thankfully worked and succeeded in removing her cancer.
Alyssa added of talking about her experience: "I just wanted to make a difference, so it's like, what's the point of having a life if it doesn't have any meaning?"
The emotional chat left Dermot, 49, and Alison, 47, feeling emotional, as they were both spotted getting choked up.
As Alyssa pulled out a note to thank everyone who "helped with her recovery", Alison completely broke down into tears.
The presenter was seen wiping away tears from under her eyes, before her voice began to break as she spoke.
"Oh, I don't know if I can do it, you've really brought me to tears," Alison said. "You're such a giving person, I can see that.
"So we thought we'd give you something lovely. I can't do it, oh my god - we know you're a huge Harry Potter fan aren't you darling?"
She passed her script over to Dermot as she got choked up announcing they were sending Alyssa for a fun day out.
It comes after it was revealed that Alyssa had been saved thanks to a world-first treatment after her cancer came back.
Kiona, the cousin of fashion guru Gok Wan, said they are “on cloud nine” as Alyssa is in remission, thanks to treatment in May.
Doctors gave her a cutting-edge treatment made of white blood cells in a lab using gene editing.
