Holly and Phil will be joined by Friday's host Alison Hammond, and for the first time, Dermot O'Leary will also be part of the festivities.

Dermot, 49, said: "This will be my first actual Christmas Day show for This Morning! I’m really excited.

"I just love Christmas, I love the food, I love the family getting together, the whole ritual of it, so I love that we’ll kind of be doing that here too."

Alison, 47, added: "You’re gonna love it! We’ll be on the telly Christmas day along with Phil and Holly and I love it when the This Morning family gets together and it’s all festive.

"The moment all the Christmas trees go up in the studio is when I start getting festive and that’s when I put my tree up at home."

Meanwhile, Holly and Phil spoke about how special it was to have become part of the Christmas TV schedule traditions in the past couple of years.

Phil, 60, said: "I think it’s really lovely to be on over the Christmas period, there’s something really quite special about being a part of everybody's Christmas morning.

"There’s a lovely atmosphere in the studio and you’re never quite sure what's going to happen!”

Holly, 41, added: "This Morning kind of changes and adapts to whatever is going on so as soon as we hit autumn, we’re cooking with autumn produce.

"Christmas is no different, our studio becomes a Winter Wonderland which I love. I think we have more Christmas trees - that are reused each year - in our studio than any other studio on TV!

"Our art department is amazing, they have one weekend where suddenly they just transform the whole thing.”

The pair also teased what viewers can expect from the Christmas Day show.

Phil said: "There are often some pressies during the Christmas show too which are always fun and we’ve got some really fantastic guests this year. And hopefully we’ll get to eat and drink some tasty things too...”

Holly added: “We do have the best chefs to cook us all sorts of delicious things.

"I’ve learnt so much from being on that show about cooking, especially at Christmas - Phil Vickery’s turkey recipe is like no other. It’s tried and tested and brilliant.

"It’s just really good fun and also what I really look forward to is just putting on a load of sparkly outfits everyday.
