Shock kiss causes fireworks in Emmerdale this Christmas
LOVE is in the air this Christmas in the Dales for one freshly single resident.
The Emmerdale character shares an unexpected kiss with a former flame - but are they making a mistake?
Liam Cavanagh (portrayed by Jonny McPherson) is keeping his mind off of his separation with his wife Leyla by working.
On Christmas day, the village GP starts his first visit of the day at the Dingles and he tries to turn down a plate of food, knowing he has more trips to make throughout the Dales.
But this is to no avail and he soon feels stuffed as he arrives at Holdgate for his second visit of the day.
Things are no better there as Liam faces piles of food and has to haul himself down the street after eating and drinking too much.

He then bumps into his former flame Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles) who lets him know they've saved him some food.
Bernice takes a tea towel off a plate piled high with food and Liam knows what he has to do.
But Christmas takes a turn for Liam at Brook Cottage when the pair share a charged moment... which ends in a kiss.

Just as he's making the most of Bernice's company, Liam's wife Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) finds herself alone at Tug Ghyll.
In sad scenes, and while she overhears the sounds of a party trickling in, the wedding planner eats a tragic Christmas meal for one, isolated from the rest of the villagers.
Liam had already turned to Bernice for comfort as Leyla battled her cocaine addiction, which took a severe toll on their marriage.

The couple realised they may be better off going their separate ways in recent scenes of the Yorkshire-based drama, after trying to stick together through thick and thin.
At the time, Liam pointed out their relationship had been affected by grief and tragedy, from his daughter Leanna's murder to Leyla being shot by serial killer Meena Jutla.
But could Liam really turn back to his relationship with Bernice?
