THE English viewers were left 'shouting at the screen' by the show's 'disappointing' ending.
The BBC period drama recently concluded after its six-episode run but fans were underwhelmed with the final.
Set in the 1800s an Englishwoman, Lady Cornelia Locke, comes to the West in 1890 looking for revenge on the man she sees as responsible for the death of her son.
Played by Emily blunt, she meets Eli Whipp, an ex-cavalry scout and member of the Pawnee Nation by birth, on his way to Nebraska to claim the land he is owed for his service in the US army, despite having been told that the white men will not honour their debt.
The series finale of the show has got viewers talking, however, for all the wrong reasons.
Taking to social media, one viewer wrote: "I was so caught up in it I couldn't wait to watch it, but I was devastated when it ended. And that ending!"
"I was deeply unhappy with the ending but I stuck with it b/c it was beautiful cinematography," said another.
A third said: "So disappointed in the ending of #TheEnglish, not going to spoil anything but ended up shouting at the screen in the last episode."
The Sun TV won't be ruining the ending for fans who haven't yet watched the episode.
The synopsis for the episode said: "As Eli and Cornelia reach Powder River, a violent attack on his hayrick forces Trafford to make a difficult decision, and Marshall discovers the truth behind the branding.
