Emmerdale's usual hour-long Thursday episode is no more with ITV instead airing coverage of the latest football fixtures.

In another blow to fans of the Dales, there are no more episodes of the soap set to be screened all week with Friday's episode being pulled too.

However, it is not all doom and gloom for soap fans tonight with the BBC coming to the rescue.

EastEnders will be airing a double bill of episodes to make up for it being missing from the schedules the last two nights.

BBC One will broadcast two editions of the show back-to-back from 7pm tonight.

The arrival of the sporting tournament has wreaked havoc for TV listings.

Running from November 20 to December 8, the tournament will air on both ITV and the BBC - with the soap schedules in chaos because of it.

In a bid to limit the disruption as much as they can, both channels have been releasing episodes of the shows to their own streaming services in advance in order for fans to be able to watch when they like.

For the last two weeks both BBC iPlayer and ITVX have dropped that week's episodes at the start of the week in advance of their TV airing.

Typically, Emmerdale airs Monday-Friday at 7:30pm with Thursday's edition being an hour-long affair.

Whilst its BBC counterpart usually broadcasts four episodes per week - airing from Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm.
