EastEnders spoilers: Janine Butcher consumed with jealousy as Mick Carter grows closer with ex Linda

JANINE Butcher's jealousy is showing no signs of slowing down in upcoming scenes in EastEnders.

Janine (Charlie Brooks) will struggle to contain her jealousy surrounding Mick Carter and his ex wife Linda (Kellie Bright) on the BBC One soap and even the distraction of someone from her past won't be enough to stop her obsessing over the former couple.

Following on from her previous fiasco with Mick and her explosive showdown with Sonia, Janine's suspicions are flared up once again - this time thanks to her future mother-in-law Shirley Carter.

Shirley tells Janine that Linda has phoned in sick to work at The Vic and rather than take it at face value, Janine becomes fixated on the idea that Mick was late for their lunch date because he was with Linda.

The villain can't catch a break as she later discovers some news from Karen Taylor that leaves her seething.

Karen tells her that Mick and Linda have headed off shopping together in order to look for Christmas presents.

Mick informs Janine that he and his ex are only shopping with each other as they wanted to buy their son Ollie's Christmas presents together.

Janine is still enraged but a phone call from the registrar soon changes her mind and she lets Mick off the hook.

The phone call changes her outlook and she is quick to revel in the good news that she has just received.

Actress Charlie opened up on filming tense scenes between Janine and Linda and insisted it was easy as she and Kellie 'get on like a house on fire'.

Charlie said: "Well, luckily for me, Kellie is my soul sister, and we get on like a house on fire, so we have so much fun. I love it.

"I really want to see more of it in the future. It's a dynamic duo for sure, and I love working with Kellie."

Speaking of Janine's desperation to marry Mick, the star added: "Her panic is that he's going to change his mind, he's not going to want to
marry, and he loves Linda. But if she can get him down the aisle, then that's it, signed and sealed.

"And at worst, it means she's got ownership over the pub if nothing else."

However she admitted that despite Janine's love for Mick, she would not be afraid to show her true colours if he did her wrong.

Charlie admitted: "Janine won't change her colours, and if someone turns on her, she will be the first person to retaliate.

"She's an emotional woman, she can't control that, and she doesn't behave well or appropriately because she doesn't know how to behave well or appropriately. My version of Janine is that there's a deep self-loathing in her and hurt people hurt people, don't they?

"There's a sadness to her, I think. There's so much grandiose 'I'm wonderful, and Mick's lucky to have me' and all that is on the surface but actually, what's going on underneath is a very small child, a little girl who's totally lost and trying to survive and has never felt looked after.
"There's been abandonment, she's had trauma, and it plays out in all the wrong ways."
