Anne Hegerty breaks silence on the fate of Britain’s Brightest Family

ANNE Hegerty has broken her silence on the fate of Britain's Brightest Family.

The Chase star first fronted the ITV show in January 2018 and has presided over two series featuring members of the public as well as two celebrity versions.

The premise of the show saw a family - a young captain, and two older relatives - answer questions on the buzzers.

It didn't just focus on straightforward trivia, but also used pictures and graphics throughout.

Rounds included multiple choice, memory and a quick fire round.

However, the show last aired in May 2021, and Anne opened up about the show's future in an exclusive chat with The Sun Online.

Asked if it was coming back she said: "I don't think it is. Most game shows don't manage more than two series.

"I had two series of that and two of the celeb version so you know, I had a decent run."

Anne also ruled out any more travel shows, having filmed The Chasers Road Trip: Trains, Brains and Automobiles in 2021 alongside fellow Chasers Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace.

She said: "I loath travel stuff, I don't ever want to do any more travel stuff."

One project Anne did enjoy away from her role as The Governess on The Chase was ITV's DNA Journey.

She said: "DNA Journey doesn't count because that was fun and it was interesting.

"I found out some interesting things. I didn't expect to find that I'm four per cent Norwegian."

The Chase airs week days from 5pm on ITV1.
