As he entered the studio an image of him when he was younger was aired and showed his slim phsique.

It prompted the women to bring up the topic of weight loss where James made the revelation.

Host Ruth Langsford asked Martin: "You are looking good, I was reading that you have given up fizzy drinks is it?"

James then explained how he shed the weight by just cutting one drink out of his diet.

"Yeah. Well, fizzy drinks, I don't drink tea or coffee so fizzy drinks were always sort of my nemesis really and in the kitchen particularly," he revealed.

Continuing, he said during the Coronavirus pandemic he wasn't concentrating and getting massive sugar rushes.

In a bid to change things, James said he simply swapped to just drinking water.

"The minute I swapped to water, it was nearly three stone," he told the women.

The revelation left Ruth shocked as she asked him: "Just like that? With not changing your diet, just the drinks?"

"Yeah, so the chefs have bottles of water in my section and are like 'make sure he is happy, give him water'," he said.

As well as hosting James Martin's Saturday Morning on ITV, James is a regular chef on This Morning.

The Sun previously revealed how the chef was left fuming when workmen accidentally spilled paint on his £135,000 Audi.
