The Great British Bake Off 2022 final LIVE: Syabira Yussof crowned GBBO champion after beating Sandro & Abdul
THE Great British Bake Off final has drawn to a close, with the last three bakers whittled down to just one 2022 series champion.
Twelve amateurs bakers have slowly been whittled down to just three-star bakers, who were hoping to be crowned the 2022 winner.
But it was Syariba who was crowned GBBO champion after she created an edible sculpture showstopper that floored the judges with her daring and adventurous flavours.
After being handed the title, Syabira said: "Thank you so much. I can't believe it, honestly it hasn't sunk in yet, this is the biggest achievement in my life. All the hard work, the trial and error, it has all been worth it. I am very very proud."

All about Abdul
Raised in Saudi Arabia to Pakistani parents, Abdul is the middle of three children – and the one who got into trouble for pulling apart the electronic devices around the house.
All’s well that ends well, though, and he is now an electronics engineer, dividing his time between London and Cambridge.
A keen salsa dancer, and a self-confessed space nerd, his interest in baking began when he and his graduate colleagues baked for each other to brighten up their daily coffee breaks.
He applies his precision thinking to the chemistry of creating bakes.
Throughout his time on Bake Off, Abdul has impressed the judges with his bakes which often include space and astronauts.
Who had been Star Baker?
Each episode one lucky contestant gets the coveted title of Star Baker.
Hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas take it in turns to read out who has been awarded the honour that week – and in the semi final someone new picked up the accolade.

More about GBBO contestant Sandro
Sandro, a 30-year-old nanny from London, was the first finalist to win star baker and impressed the judges with his highly decorative bakes throughout the series.
Having moved from war-torn Angola to start a new life in London when he was young, Sandro said: "Based on where I come from, and where I live, that was one of my doubts in applying.
"I thought this will never really happen to a boy like me from the ends.
"But it's bigger than me. Being able to get here shows other young boys and young girls from the same background that they can also do it."
What did the judges say about Syabira's showstopper?
Syabira opted for an orangutan holding up a forest with Hollywood praising the colours she had used but saying the face of the animal could have had more work.
Judging the black-pepper flavoured genoise sponge covered in a chocolate and hazelnut buttercream fur, Hollywood said: "It tastes delicious."
Meanwhile, Dame Prue described the orangutan's head, made up of tarragon shortbread, as "lovely and buttery and very crisp".
Overall, Hollywood said: "It's not the neatest thing I've seen, but your flavours are superb."
Being a GBBO finalist was like 'winning the lottery'
When asked what it was like being a Bake Off finalist, Syabira described it as a "lottery jackpot".
"I've never been the top person in any kind of competition or any classes that I've attended so maybe baking is my hidden talent that I didn't discover until recently," she said.

Sandro's showstopper described as 'a bit messy'
Hollywood described Sandro's final showstopper as "a bit messy" and his lemon sponge with a plum compote as being five minutes overbaked, but said the flavour was "amazing".
He added: "I think you've struggled on a few things today but you've managed to do quite a lot in the time."
'I feel very proud' says Syabira Yussof
Syabira Yusoff has been named the winner of the Great British Bake Off.
The 32-year-old cardiovascular research associate from London saw off competition from Sandro Farmhouse and Abdul Rehman Sharif in the final episode of the Channel 4 baking contest to take home the top prize.
After being handed the title during Tuesday's episode, Syabira said: "Thank you so much. I can't believe it, honestly it hasn't sunk in yet, this is the biggest achievement in my life.
"All the hard work, the trial and error, it has all been worth it. I am very very proud."
All of the trial and error has been worth it
Syabira has not burst out in tears as we expected on learning she had become winner.
She says all the trial and error and all the hard work has been worth it.
Go girl!
The GBBO 2022 winner is...
The GBBO winner is Syabira!
They beat off stiff competition from Sandro and Abdul.
It's been "an amazing Bake Off" this year.
Not a terribly amazing show of skill
It's been an underwhelming final to be honest.
No one has really stood out as exceptional, with each baker making their fair share of mistakes.
The judges are out deliberating now.
Who's it gonna be?
We'll find out within five minutes time.
Tense stuff!
And finally, it's Abdul
Paul loves the colours but thinks it looks unattractive.
They criticise Abdul's macaron's for being too big.
And Prue says Abdul's choux buns were "a complete failure".
Syabira up next with a wobbly showstopper
Paul says she could have doine more work on the structure - but he loves the colour.
Prue thinks there's too much buttercream but Paul absolutely loves.
Parts are not the neatest, but her flavours are excellent.
Sandro up first with his showstopper
Paul likes colour and shape of the cake.
There's a lemon curd and cream as the cake was a "little bit chewy".
Lemon spoinge with a plum compote was an amazing flavour but slightly overdone.
He's also served up profiteroles as well - how fancy!
Good flavours all round, but Paul says Sandro struggled on a few bits.
Who's won GBBO?
Hold your horses there - we're just about to see the judges taste the bakes.
Then will then go away to deliberate before delivering the news in front of family and friends.
It's the first time loved ones have been invited to final day at Welford Park.
Bake Off completed
Matt says "congratulations, you have completed the Bake Off".
It does look like a bit of an endurance test - what a mountain they've had to climb!
Uh oh Abdul!
His sculpture looked like it was at risk of collapse.
Final five minutes left!
Finishing touches are now being made!
