Actor Owen, 23, who is best known for playing Romeo Nightingale in Hollyoaks, helped out with the cooking in last night’s episode.

He was joined by regular camp chefs Charlene, 42, and MP Matt Hancock as they cooked a piece of boar meat for their co-stars.

The group were seen dishing out instructions to the youngest member of camp, as he got to grips with cooking for the first time.

“You’re going to want to slice it up, like carpaccio,” Coronation Street actress Sue Cleaver said, as a baffled Owen replied: “You’ll have to speak English to me.”

“Slice it up as thin as you can,” Matt, 44, explained, before the actor was seen finishing off the meal on the fire and plating it up.

“I diced, I sliced, I stirred, I fried, I was the head chef tonight, boy,” Owen proudly declared in the Bush Telegraph.

Viewers then overheard Charlene telling him: “When you get married to a lovely lady and you woo her with your cooking, you better thank us in your wedding speech.”

Fans were less than impressed with the comment, and took to Twitter to hit back at Charlene, calling her “patronising”.

“So Charlene ‘LET’ Owen cook. Does she realise she doesn’t own the camp? In fact she’s actually done the least,” one fumed.

Another chimed in: “How patronising was Charlene being about ‘letting’ Owen cook for one night.”

“Why is Charlene acting like Owen is 5?” a third wrote, as a fourth added: “Charlene is so condescending about Owen doing the cooking!”

A fifth concluded: “Charlene is so patronising toward Owen.”

It comes after I’m A Celeb viewers were left shocked as Owen snapped at his “ungrateful” co-stars after winning five stars.

The actor took part in the Who Wants To Look Silly On Air trial alongside Matt Hancock in last night’s show.

However, Owen was left feeling disappointed at the lack of stars he managed to achieve in his first attempt at a public-voted trial.

As the trial grew to a close, a clearly deflated Owen said: “I’m not happy man, I’m covered in all sorts and we’ve only got 5 stars… he [Matt] was doing well until you got me on his team.”

Campmates Charlene and Sue expressed their concerns about the lack of food won during the trial after Matt had brought home a full house the day before.

Speaking in the Bush Telegraph, Hollyoaks hunk Owen said: “I’m feeling very disappointed, very deflated.

“I’m not the smartest geezer about, which is probably why I got put to do that. I feel a bit awful… I feel really tight that I’ve let the campmates down a little bit.”
