Aldi's Managing Director of Buying, Julie Ashfield, headed up the team of judges who were sampling the products week by week alongside award winning grocer Chris Bavin and presenter Anita Rani.

In the latest episode, Aldi were looking to expand its deli range and welcomed a bunch of new hopefuls to compete for the supermarket seal of approval.

After being put through their paces, the competition was whittled down to just two as the Greek Farmer and I Am Nut OK.

In the end, Tony and Aaron the curators behind the Greek Farmer were chosen as the winners receiving the life-changing supermarket contract.

Their previous biggest order had been 200 packets however their win could see them supplying Aldi with around 20,000.

All of their items are produced on Tony's Hertfordshire farm and only free-range British pork and beef is used in order to display its excellent quality.

However many fans of the show were left disappointed by I Am Nut OK not securing the deal.

The brand consisted of vegan cheese products which Julie admitted could 'work well' in Aldi but they were ultimately pipped to the post.

Viewers of the show were left outraged alleging that Aldi has a very limited vegan and could have benefited from the inclusion of the product.

Taking to Twitter, one said: "Ughhh was really hoping I'm Nut Ok was going to be picked on #AldisNextBigThing 😒. Must be the only supermarket without any vegan cheese!"

Another slammed Aldi over their decision citing concerns around the world's current environment, writing: "Hearing a food business competition on the TV in the background. @AldiUK exec picks a product with catastrophic climate impact (during #COP27 !) made from flesh over one with a tiny impact that isn't made via torture & killing 🌱We still have a way to go 😢 #AldisNextBigThing."

A third shared: "Cheese should of won #AldisNextBigThing."

As a fourth added: "@iamnutok cheese is fab, sadly I think Aldi’s vegan offering is pretty poor so this was predictable. Luckily I live in Hackney so I don’t need it to be in Aldi, sorry non London vegans #aldisnextbigthing."
