FRAMED for a robbery she didn't commit, Bernie Winter bumped into a brand new character last night.
Actor Gordon Peaston made his Coronation Street debut as Howard and viewers may have recognised him from a rival soap.
Bernie (played by Jane Hazlegrove) was horrified to find out her once trusted doppelganger Fern (Gabrielle Glaister) impersonated her to rob a jewellery shop.
While she faces legal trouble, she remains determined to prove she's innocent despite her nearest and dearest doubting Fern's existence.
During last night's trip to the cobbles, Bernie made her way to a country club dressed up as Fern.
After trying to dupe the receptionist into revealing her double's home address - and failing - Bernie met another club member named Howard.

When she made out she was Fern Lindon, Howard revealed he knew she was lying as Fern was none other than his ex-wife.
As mentioned above, Gordon Peaston is a familiar face on the box and appeared in another popular program.
The actor joined the EastEnders line-up in 2021, making his first appearance in February, 2022.
He played Trevor Barnes, an addiction counsellor who was friends with Rocky Cotton aka Brian Conley.

Trevor was seen giving his business card to Dotty Cotton, portrayed by Milly Zero.
Gordon's credits also include stints in Cold Feet, Taggart and, most recently, medical drama Casualty.
However, he has secured several other roles away from the small screen, most notably in the short film The Hanged Man (2018).
Gordon is also a successful voiceover and theatre actor, having begun his career in 1996 in the Paul Kondras film The Suitcase.
ITV viewers will be seeing a lot more of Gordon as Howard could allow Bernie to finally prove she was duped by Fern.
