'where is he?'

I’m A Celeb fans furious as Matt Hancock is missing from first episode despite huge pay cheque

I’m A Celebrity fans were left furious this evening as Matt Hancock failed to make an appearance.

On tonight’s show ten famous faces entered the jungle – but the Conservative MP was nowhere to be seen.

Matt will in fact be a late arrival alongside Seann Walsh later in the week – but many viewers didn’t seem aware of this.

Those watching at home took to Twitter to complain about his absence – considering his huge pay cheque.

One person wrote: "Where tf is Matt Hancock that’s the only reason im watching #ImACeleb."

A second added: "Waiting impatiently for that goon Matt Hancock #ImACeleb."

While a third raged: "Show me Matt Hancock so I can vote him to do literally anything bad #ImACeleb."

As the show kicked off Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly confirmed there will be two extra arrivals to the I'm A Celebrity camp and poked fun at Matt, expected to be one of them.

Ant said: "We have not one but two late arrivals on the way. And fortunately we have managed to keep their identities a complete secret. No-one has got a clue who they are."

Stressing the word "mat", Dec added: "You are going to be surprised, guys. We are going to be rolling out the welcome mat for them soon."

Last week The Sun revealed that Matt had landed a payday worth around £400,000 to take part in the ITV series – sparking fury among his critics.

A source said: “Matt’s pay deal with I’m A Celebrity is around £400,000 which is one of the largest ever show fees to have been paid out.

ITV were keen for viewers to think the deal was worth around £150,000 but in reality it’s over double that.

“They asked him to be on the show three times in a matter of weeks and the money definitely helped seal the deal.”

The under-fire former Health Minister, 44, has insisted he will make a sizeable donation to charity but the size of his deal has caused outrage – with those who know him saying his West Suffolk constituents will be apoplectic with rage at the size of the cash deal.

Writing in The Sun,  Hancock insisted his decision to join I’m A Celebrity was not driven by money but to help promote his campaign about dyslexia, a condition he was diagnosed with after leaving school.

He added: “Reality TV is a very different way to communicate with the electorate — it’s both honest and unfiltered.

“I want to use this incredible platform to raise awareness, so no child leaves primary school not knowing if they have dyslexia.”
