The Coronation Street set is now adorned with an abundance of colourful Christmas lights hanging across the famous terraced houses.

It is hoped the decorations will cheer up the residents and spread some Christmas magic to the Rovers, the Bistro and Underworld.

The Manchester set has also seen a large Christmas tree arrive opposite the iconic Rovers Return.

Another festive addition is the Coronation Street Christmas market.

This will likely provide a new meeting point for the street's iconic characters such as Mary Taylor, Tracy Barlow and Eileen Grimshaw.

A flurry of other stunning decorations can be seen across the set providing the perfect backdrop for a classic Corrie Christmas.

While there is always hope for festive cheer during the holiday season, life in Weatherfield more often consists of doom and gloom.

It looks set to be another sensational Christmas on the cobbles with many characters taking centre stage for a number of dramatic storylines.

Fans of the programme will see Ken's former barge-based lover Martha make a shock appearance throwing a spanner in the works between Ken and his current partner Wendy Crozier.

Summer and Aaron will continue to face tough decisions after deciding to sell their baby to Esther and Mike. Will it be a happily ever after for all involved?

Max Turner will also become a pivotal talking point this Christmas as his harrowing grooming plot gets further underway.

Will David and Shona manage to protect the young lad before it is all too late?
