Anna's preparation and cooking were flawless, with Michelin-starred co-star Marcus Wareing singing her praises as he tasted the finished product.

But some viewers weren't as keen on the pink colouring of the kidneys once sliced open, with many saying they looked raw.

One wrote on Twitter: "Seeing that kidneys in the skills test on celebrity masterchef makes me want to throw up."

A second posted: "Kidneys with that pink/raw inside [sick emojis] and nothing that has the word membrane is appetising!!"

After a tough night of competition, Brazilian Beatriz and Londoner Brendan were eliminated, sending Jonny and Owen through to the next stage.

Host Gregg Wallace told Brendan it "wasn't your day" while he said to Beatriz: "Thank you for introducing us to your flavours of Brazil. It was great."

Earlier in the show, the quartet had to prepare and cook butterflied sardines in a tomato sauce served on toast.

They had 20 minutes to tackle the dish expertly demonstrated by Marcus.

While all four efforts were edible, none was perfect and the judging chefs pointed out errors with all the elements in each attempt.
