BAFFLED

Only Connect fan left double-taking as they spot something very wrong with contestant’s outfit

ONLY Connect viewers were left questioning one of the contestant's unusual accessory choices in Tuesday night's episode.

The popular BBC Two programme, hosted by Victoria Coren Mitchell, is notorious for its difficulty in which players must form connections through a series of challenging clues.

But fans of the show at home had already raised questions before the contest had even gotten underway.

Victoria introduced the first contestant Alan Peters, who's learning German and once made a necklace out of rubber ducks.

But eagle-eyed viewers pointed out a decorative pin on Alan's bright red coat.

BBC viewers were puzzled over it's shape and significance.

One fan questioned on Twitter: "Still not sure what this is, but from a distance, I know what it looks like."

Another fan suggested: "It's a brooch representing the Leaves of Lorien from Lord of the Rings."

An amused fan penned: "Me too. Every subsequent time it could have been onscreen, it was covered by question blocks. Doh!"

And a confused viewer said: "So much debate in our house."

Two bird-named teams took part in an avian stand-off to establish a pecking order.

Their task is to establish connections between groups of items, such as those between the following four capital letters: a blue W, a green L, a red M and a yellow, upside-down L.

By the end of the show, Alan and his team the Peacocks lost with 20 points, whereas the Strigiformes scored 28.
