After several weeks of migraines and a shocking fainting spell in a bathroom, Lola Pearce learned she would have to undergo surgery to remove a tumour in her brain.

Sadly, the procedure was unsuccessful, as doctors announced shortly after.

Lola was left with her days numbered, unbeknownst to her young daughter Lexi and to the shock of her nearest and dearest.

Coming up on BBC One, Callum Highway (portrayed by Tony Clay) encourages Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) to tell Lexi the truth about Lola’s prognosis.

Fans were shocked to find out that Danielle Harold would be bowing out of the soap after more than a decade.

For her final storyline, EastEnders bosses have worked closely with Brain Tumour Research and Macmillan Cancer Support for it to be portrayed as “realistically and as sensitively as possible.”

The date of Lola’s final scenes has yet to be confirmed but Danielle Harold is said to still be on the Elstree Centre set.

The soap usually shoots episodes six to eight weeks in advance and fellow soap stars such as Danny Dyer have been filming their own Christmas storylines.
