The 50-year-old former Scotland rugby star was told he had prostate cancer in February and Gabby spoke to Steven about the moment they found out.

The mum-of-two shared: “He [Kenny] was really upset as you can imagine and I just thought, 'Right no, this is going to be absolutely fine, what are we going to do? What are the answers here?'

"His neurologist was brilliant, he's a brilliant communicator and told us what the options were and I was like, (to Kenny) 'We've just got to get a plan together, you need to know what you're doing and then we will keep being positive about it.'

"That's what we did really, once we got over the initial shock, we just really kind of focused on it as a project we had to deal with and it's a bloody awful operation."

Gabby married former Scotland international rugby union player Kenny on July 19, 2001.

After undergoing IVF treatment, Gabby gave birth to twins - son Reuben and daughter Lois, 17, on July 28, 2005.

Gabby continued to say that she knew she “wouldn’t lose her husband,” despite his diagnosis.

Unable to hold back the tears as she talked about the tough time in their lives, she shared: “It's horrible to see him in the pain he was afterwards, it's a horrible thing to go through but he's doing really really well now."

Revealing he had to have six stab wounds in his torso, Gabby continued through tears: “He's just great, I'm very lucky.

"He's a great man and I couldn't ever wish for anybody to have shared my life with, who is better."
