FANS of The Chase were left in hysterics at one contestant who made an embarrassing blunder when it came to his cash builder.

The ITV game show was back for it's latest outing and had host Bradley Walsh on-hand as ever as four more contestants battled to win the life-changing sum of money.

Difu, Hazel, Amy and Mark all took on Chaser Paul Sinha with Difu up first and securing the first £2,000 for the team.

Hazel managed to take the prize pot up to £6,000 whilst Amy struggled and was taken out by the Chaser.

But it was Mark who had everybody laughing as he made a rather awkward blunder with his very first question.

Host Bradley asked him: "What reference book was originally given away for free by an Irish brewery?"

It appeared that the counting clock and studio lights was too much pressure for Mark as he failed to give the correct answer of the Guinness Book of Records - a seemingly sensible choice with the Irish brewery connection.

Instead Mark answered the Dictionary and left fans laughing on their sofas at home.

Taking to Twitter, viewers of the teatime quiz had something to say on the matter and poor Mark.

One fan said: "Yes because an Irish brewery would give away a DICTIONARY!"

Another questioned:  "Why would a brewery give away a dictionary?"

A third shared: "Mark's gone big. And Irish breweries are giving away dictionaries. Their customers must be future Countdown contestant"

Despite his incredibly shaky start, Mark opted for the higher cash offer and successfully managed to take the prize fund to a staggering £60,000.

Sadly, the team were caught with 16 seconds remaining, leaving their big cash dreams in tatters.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
