Presenters Naga Munchetty, 47 and Charlie Stayt, 60, are also off for Half Term, leaving former BBC Global News host Victoria free to take the reins.

Fans were quick to brand Victoria a "breath of fresh air" on Wednesday.

Others agreed, with one BBC Breakfast fan writing: "Vivacious Victoria doing a marvellous presenting job today I'm sure we all agree."

A second put: "Well done Victoria. Good work #BBCBreakfast."

A third continued: "Victoria Fritz is a natural of a presenter pure class lovely personality attractive should be on the sofa more often."

Previously, Victoria has been dubbed "Britain's all-time sexiest presenter."

Since joining the BBC in 2008, she has worked as a business journalist covering the financial crisis in London and New York.

She went on to launch BBC's Business Live programme and became the BBC's first female transport correspondent.

She covered the global impact of transport across business, politics and culture for programmes such as Today on BBC Radio 4, The Jeremy Vine Show on BBC Radio 2, the Six O’Clock News and ‘Ten O’Clock News.

Back in 2016, the TV presenter found that her waters had broken shortly after reading the business news live on the show.

And when fellow presenter Sally discovered that Victoria's husband was stuck in traffic on the motorway, she stayed by her side during the arrival of the baby boy.

A BBC spokesperson confirmed: "When Sally heard that she'd gone into labour she offered to be there until Victoria's husband got there. But her husband never arrived so she found herself at the birth."
