The character - played by Danny Miller - was furious when he discovered Liv had headed out into the storm to babysit while Paddy and the family rushed to hospital to be with Sam after his accident, meanwhile Chas was away from the pub with Al yet again.

Having previously raged that he wished his mum had died instead of his sister, Aaron is secretly incredulous when he finds out Chas has offered to help arrange Liv’s funeral.

Aaron is ready to blow at his mother and Chas worries he’ll spill her secret. After being urged by Paddy to hash things out with Chas, Aaron reluctantly agrees.

When Aaron accuses her of still being with Al, Chas vehemently denies and emotionally blackmails Aaron into backing down.

And soon Chas is relieved when she successfully edges Aaron towards deciding to leave the village.

In later scenes, Aaron gets ready to leave for good and says his goodbyes.

When Chas questions him on what he’s revealed, Aaron coldly cuts off any future the two of them might have.

Is this really the end for the mother and son?

Danny, 31, previously opened up about his return to Emmerdale, having left the soap in November last year.

While fans had hoped his participation in the 50th anniversary week could pave the way for a permanent comeback, Danny insisted it was only a short stint.

He said: "It was just nice to be back for a short stint and see everybody, it’s like going to a party every day and just catching up with people all over the place, cast and crew.

"I’m not one of those actors that say 'No, that’s it now, I’ve shelved it', as I said it’s a massive part of my life, a huge part of my life and it always will be.

"There’s never a chance of me ever saying I’ll never go back."
