ALDI's Next Big Thing viewers were left disgusted by the potential decision of insect burgers being sold by the supermarket chain.

Channel 4's Aldi's Next Big Thing aired its first episode last night and viewers were left "sickened" by the decision of insect ready meals in the future but two budding entrepreneurs.

Aldi's Next Big Thing on Channel 4 sees small-scale food producers compete for a contract to sell their products at .

Aldi buyer Julie Ashfield tries each product and tells the businesses if she thinks they are suitable for the supermarket.

But there was one product that had viewers "sickened" on the first episode of the new competition show - Yum Bug which uses crickets and insects to make ready to eat meals.

Founders Leo and Aaron explained how sustainable eating insects is compared to other protein sources.

Taking to Twitter to comment on the decision, one viewer wrote: "If things get any worse, we'll be catching our own bugs to eat ."

Another wrote: "There's no way I'm eating bugs!!! An insect burger is a no for me, yuk!"

A third penned: "In this vegan climate I think it’s no to bugs ."

A fourth angry viewer wrote: "Quit trying to make us eat bugs!"

While other viewers didn't mind the idea of eating insect meals.

One wrote: "Yes to the bugs, go for it Aldi."

Another chimed in: "They are mad for not taking your products guys. It’s amazing, don’t give up go to #Marksandspencer or #Waitrose."

Unfortunately, Aldi buyer Julie told them she liked the product, but didn't think Aldi customers would go for it at the moment. She told them to "come back in five years".

At the end of the episode Christian - owner of Mud food - a pie business was announced the winner.
