Her death came after weeks of tense and emotional scenes as Faith tried to process what was happening to her and make the most of the time she had left.

And despite shooting her final scenes weeks ago, Sally is still feeling the effects of filming now.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online at the Inside Soap Awards, Sally said: "You wouldn't think that lying down, or sitting in a chair would be exhausting, but it was and I had to really guard myself.

"Because I was moving very slowly and I was in pain. I found myself walking out of the scenes like that and down the corridors like that and I had to say 'Oh for goodness sake!'."

"It's funny it wasn't done consciously, it was an automatic thing, instinctively you have to be in that place."

Thankfully Sally's journey home from the set each night helped her blow the cobwebs and the tension away.

She said: "One of the things which was very good from that point of view was I had to cycle from the studio to where I was staying in Leeds.

"So when I was on a bike there was no way [I could think about it], it was quite a good way to literally blow it away."

While the star managed to decompress on her journey home, she admitted she still isn't totally over the experience even now.

She said: "It was important. And actually, I'd say I'm still still aching a little bit from it, because you hold the tension of it in your bones.

"So yeah, I'm still [feeling it], I've been doing a lot of home yoga."

Faith's death came just before the 50th anniversary episode and wild storm that has struck Emmerdale village and already killed a number of characters.

But Sally is glad Faith got to have her moment before further tragedy struck.

She said: "It sort of kicks it off, but that was sort of how it was put to me and I felt it did.

"It was like out with the old and in with the news This is a new era for Emmerdale and hopefully another 50 years."
