A host of their Married At First Sight co-stars were also less than impressed when the duo were allowed to stay on the programme as a couple.

Yet after Monday's reunion episode revealed they had split, The Sun's exclusive preview of the second part of the reunion partially explains why.

St Albans-based PA Whitney admits Matt's insecurities played a big part in their downfall.

In their final ever sit-down with the experts, they agreed that they were "not together."

When asked: "What's happened?" Whitney is first to explain: "Over it," before the pair burst into laughter.

Gemma - who was Matt's original wife in the reality show experiment - quips: "It's funny considering they love each other."

Matt, dressed in a smart green shirt and jeans, appears lost for words as he responds: "Erm. Coming out of the experiment we spent a lot of time together to start with didn't we?"

Talking of his former partner's visit to his Huddersfield home, he adds: "Whitney came up to mine, I went down to Whitney's.

"I just think we hit a few boundaries. It's s**t.

"It was, it was s**t."

They agree the first few moments outside the experiment were "spot on."

Getting stuck into the real reason for their split, Whitney chimes in: "I feel that because Matthew has a lot going on in his life - a lot going on in his head - I felt that it was manifesting to me some times in ways that I didn't like."

Seeming to agree, Matt told how his "previous insecurities" had re-surfaced since meeting Whitney.

He adds: "They were put on to Whit.

"Ultimately falling in love with somebody is a scary place - you are almost try and avoid because it does surface the insecurities.
