GOGGLEBOX fans have been left fuming after the stars were seen watching a This Morning segment on 'butter boards'.
The armchair telly critics caught up on the "pointless" feature that had aired during the ITV1 show last week.
This Morning hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary were shown chopping boards covered in lumps of butter by cook Juliet Sear.
Juliet then sprinkled the smeared butter with 'toppings' including salt, onion slices and even flowers, with the pair being told the 'trend' could replace charcuterie meat boards.
But fans were left furious at the idea, given that the price of butter has soared during the current cost of living crisis.
In July, tubs of Lurpak were being sold in one supermarket for £7.25.
One Gogglebox viewer raged on Twitter: "Cost of living is high. But hey let’s all waste butter on a board!"

Another fumed: "Butter boards you seen the price of butter. What about a margarine board."
A third tweeted: "That butter board 1. What a waste of expensive butter 2. Nothing you can put on it would not make it sickly."
The scenes caused such a stir that 'butter board' briefly trended on the social media site.
Someone else remarked: "People can’t afford to eat and butter boards a trending, this is what’s wrong with the world."

Another admitted: "The idea of a butter board makes me want to vomit."
The Gogglebox stars were equally as perplexed by the idea of a 'butter board', especially given the rising cost of living.
Show favourites Lee Riley said to his best pal Jenny Newby: "Do you know how much f***ing butter is nowadays?
Jenny replied: "It's ever so expensive, isn't it?"
Lee added: "Is it Tesco that has got alarms on them? They got security tags on them!"
Gogglebox continues next Friday, 9pm, on Channel 4
