Kate Garraway fights back tears as she gives health update on Derek while picking up NTA gong
KATE Garraway was on the brink of tears after winning a National Television Award for her documentary Caring For Derek.
The Good Morning Britain presenter, 55, was accompanied by her 16-year-old daughter to the annual event at London's Wembley Arena on Thursday evening.

Caring For Derek was nominated alongside Katie Price: What Harvey Did Next, Tom Parker: Inside My Head, Julia Bradbury: Breast Cancer and Me, and Paddy and Christine McGuinness: Our Family and Autism.
Kate took home the award last year for her documentary Finding Derek, which focused on her husband, Derek Draper, who spent a year in hospital being treated for coronavirus.
During her acceptance speech, an emotional Kate said that Derek is continuing to "fight" and will be home soon after another stint in hospital.
She said: "Well I really didn’t expect this.
"So, the mercy of that is that this is going to be brief as I have very little prepared.

"I’ve got my daughter here, Darcey. We managed to speak to Derek, he is back in hospital at the moment, fighting on so incredibly. We’re hoping he is coming home again soon.
"Darcey represents all the family."
She continued: "I want to thank Derek for his incredible fighting spirit, we love you. I want to thank ITV for being so brave to put something which actually is touched in all the incredible documentaries, about care.
"We have a care crisis in our country, but we don’t have a crisis of love.

"And I think that’s probably why you voted for this, because you know it’s all of you.
"We all feel alone, we all need some care and love.
"So thank you so much, it means the world to all of those people. Thank you so much."
Kate was attending the ceremony after being nominated in the Authored Documentary category for Kate Garraway: Caring for Derek.
The programme followed Kate and her husband Derek Draper through the upheaval and uncertainty of their life after he was critically ill in hospital with Covid-19.
Despite the family's ongoing struggles - with Kate recently revealing Derek has life-threatening sepsis and is back in hospital - the star and her daughter were able to take their mind off things by attending the NTAs.
Darcey looked incredible in a fitted red cowl neck gown with thin straps, with her brunette locks hanging loosely around her shoulders.
Meanwhile Kate beamed as she posed with her eldest child in a metallic gold wrap dress which featured a pleated skirt.
The presenter had her blonde hair styled in curls and wore dangling earrings to complete her glamorous look.
Kate repeated her success at last year's ceremony, where she won the category for another programme on her husband's devastating health battle, titled Kate Garraway: Finding Derek.
Back in March 2020, Derek, 54, contracted Covid and has been fighting to overcome his health problems ever since.
Derek returned to his family home in April 2021 after over a year in hospital, but was recently rushed back after contracting sepsis.
Kate wrote in a piece for The Sun: "Derek is back in hospital after developing sepsis that again threatened his life and we are again fighting to get him home.

"But I remain constantly inspired by those around him - not just for their expertise but for their loving care.
"On his birthday they wrote in a card, 'We celebrate every day your braveness and strength to keep going through the pain, struggles and setbacks.'"
