Coleen Nolan stuns Loose Women fans as she reveals the huge sum she spends on cigarettes every year
LOOSE Women’s Coleen Nolan has opened up about the enormous sum she spends on smoking cigarettes each year.
The panel discussed if going smoke-free should be a priority for Britain during today’s instalment of the ITV show.
It comes after the government promised to publish a tobacco control plan, it has been revealed that ministers are now expected to break their commitment.
Coleen and the rest of her co-stars, Christine Lampard, Jane Moore and Kelle Bryan, all gave their opinions on the matter.
Smoking is dangerous and can cause a whole host of health issues – including lung cancer.
Christine said: “It is a choice to smoke isn’t it and it’s an expensive choice, Coleen, isn’t it?”

Coleen replied: “Oh I knew you were coming to me… It’s very expensive Christine, yes thank you for asking.”
Jane asked: “How much is it for a packet?”
“You will be shocked,” Coleen confessed.
“The cigarettes I smoke up north, well I smoke them down south as well, but to buy them up north it’s about £15 a packet and to buy them in London it’s £20!”
As the live audience gasped, Kelle asked how much she think she would save if she stopped smoking.
Coleen revealed: “I worked it out recently that if I stopped smoking in a year, I’d probably save between £12,000 to £14,000!”
One shocked fan pointed out on Twitter: “Colleen Nolan just stated she would save between £12k-£14k a year if she stopped smoking. That’s, on average, £35 a day. Does she smoke 50 cigarettes daily in that case? A huge number! #loosewomen #smoking #cigarettes.”
Jane went on to ask if she thought that the government could ever produce a campaign that would convince her to stop.
“I think like any addiction I am addicted to it,” Coleen replied.
“It has to come from you. I think you have to want to do it, you have to be mentally prepared to do it.
“Somebody just telling you to do it, even having this conversation, I want to reach for a cigarette because you’re all annoying me!”
However the cost has made her think twice about her habit.
Coleen added: “This price increase is happening on a weekly basis, and it is working. Now i’m going this is ridiculous.
