The contest consists of a specialist subject round whereby contestants answer questions related to a certain topic of their choosing followed by a general knowledge round, racing against the clock in both rounds.

However one contestant had everyone talking on the show thanks to his insanely quick way of answering the rapid fire questions.

Sam Swift, a local government officer, had chosen Sir Elton John as his specialist subject but it wasn’t until he got through the the general knowledge rounds that he really had people talking.

One viewer on Twitter said: “That guy speaking quickly at the end of #mastermind is giving Eminem a run for his money.”

Another added: “#mastermind bloody hell, that man can talk fast.”

A third wrote: “Could that bloke speak any quicker? #Mastermind”

While a fourth penned: “Once again we don't have the same amount of questions per contestant. Gentlement answering politics gets 12 questions, doesn't hesitate, young man gets 14 questions. #mastermind”

Despite viewers being left distracted by Sam’s quick way with words, it was him who had the last laugh in the end.
