This Morning fans slam Gino D’Acampo for cooking with £100 truffle amid cost of living crisis

THIS Morning fans were horrified today as Gino D’Acampo decided to cook with white truffle - despite the ongoing cost of living crisis.

The TV chef, 46, shaved the delicacy on top of Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby’s pasta – admitting it costs over £100.

Quizzed by the hosts about using such a pricey product, Gino boasted that he did it “because he can.”

He also revealed that his sons had encouraged him to use the ingredient on the show and he called This Morning to make sure they had it for him.

Gino joked that it had come out of Holly and Phil’s wages as they looked on in horror.

Those watching at home couldn’t get over the decision to use white truffle while so many are struggling to even put food on the table.

One raged: “Chef Gino calls ahead to make the show buy him a £100 truffle, which he then takes home. Really makes sense when people are struggling to pay for their shopping. Get real #ThisMorning.”

While a third tweeted: “Seems the #queuejumping duo @Schofe & @hollywills have taken to trolling their viewers by scoffing a pasta dish with white truffles in it.”

And someone else wrote: “#ThisMorning doing a cooking section with white truffles… could you be any more tone deaf during the current cost of living crisis? Pathetic.”

The segment comes just days after the show was slammed for promoting £345 advent calendars.
