Richie was telling the host how happy he was with their high scores on Saturday night after a slow start in week one.

The duo, who are this series' only all-male pairing, scored 32 from the judges, 9 up from the week before with an 8/8/8/8.

Richie said: "I thought they'd mixed up my scores with someone else. That's the kind of thing you dream of. To stand in front of the judges and get 8, I never thought it would happen in a month of Sundays."

He added: "One thing that we worked on so hard in training was curbing the enthusiasm because I get out there on the dancefloor and I'm a bit like a kid at a disco. Less is almost more."

Gio then echoed his comment and said: "Adrenaline. When you get on the dancefloor there's adrenaline and we were working all week to step back a little bit."

Some watching at home were confused by the pair's body language as they spoke.

One tweeted: “I don’t think Gio s very happy with Richie as a partner”

Another noted: “Why are Gio and Richie on separate seats when Kaye and Kai were on a sofa?

"Gio looks a bit out of sorts idk?”

And a third spotted that the pair clashed over their upcoming Samba to The Lion King's Hakuna Matata.

The viewer said: "The way Giovanni said 'I'm Pumbaa!' with such hurt and outrage over having his warthogness denied”

Last week Giovanni was forced to deny the pair were not getting along behind the scenes.

Speaking on the spin off show IT Takes Two, Gio looked straight into the camera and said: "There is no problem between us, we are having a good time. Forget about what you're writing, it's not true."
