Emmerdale fans convinced legendary character is returning after ‘spotting’ them in 50th anniversary trailer

EMMERDALE fans predict a return for an iconic character after sussing out who the hooded figure in the 50th anniversary trailer might be.

The ITV programme is celebrating its 50th birthday this October after first debuting as the rural favourite Emmerdale Farm in 1972.

The haunting new trailer transforms the Emmerdale village into a birthday cake which crumbles in reflection of the devastation set to hit the village. 

The harrowing new trailer is set to the tune of Smalltown Boy by Bronski Beat and features models of characters such as Kim Tate, Charity Dingle, Cain Dingle and Noah Dingle.

Liv and Vinny can be seen running through the woods as Vinny is swept away by a gust of wind.

Then some of the cake crumbles to the ground, plunging Marlon, Chas and Sam into oblivion.

However, fans think they know who is wearing a hood and disguised in the storm.

Taking to Twitter, one said: “Perfect return for Meena @paige_sandhu as a hooded figure is seen!”

Another wrote: “Or Joe Tate! Could be Jamie.”

A third penned: “Someone mentioned a hooded figure… Joe Tate? Meena? Jamie? Someone else?

A number of returns have been teased ahead of the big 50th celebrations.
