MAFS UK star Matt hits back at affair claims as he insists he didn’t cheat on Gemma with Whitney

MARRIED At First Sight UK's Matt Murray has hit back at claims he had and an affair on the show.

Earlier in the week it was reported that he had cheated on wife Gemma, with another bride on the E4 reality series.

Claims came to light this week that Matt and Whitney - who is wed to Duka on MAFS - had a secret affair.

Whitney and Duka's marriage didn't get off to the best of starts after she was slammed for "mocking" his name during the big day and a huge bust-up on their honeymoon.

And Matt and his wife Gemma have had HUGE problems since day one - but he maintains that despite this, he didn't cheat on her.

On Tuesday the reported that Whitney and Matt's affair comes while the couples are spending time together at a retreat.

According to the publication viewers will see Gemma break down in tears when the infidelity comes to light.

A source said: "Whitney and Matt truly shocked the other members of the cast by cheating on their partners – not only because of the hurt it caused but the circumstances too.

"The pairs had gone away to a couples retreat and were there to focus on their relationships, but Whitney and Matt had other ideas."

But now Matt has hit back these claims in an Instagram video.

He said: "There was no cheating, there was no betrayal. Me and Gemma had not been together for seven days, and we'd been apart more than we'd ever been together.

"Which is a bit s****y because it kind of ruins the series a bit, doesn't it? But yeah, we weren't even talking.

"Specifically after the episodes this week - so before we go to the getaway, I had specifically asked production to go home."

Matt added: "I didn't want to be here anymore and I had bigger things to deal with back at home than me trying to make something work and I was asked to stay until the next commitment ceremony, otherwise it wouldn't make sense to the audience."
