The Yorkshire Vet star mortified by horror animal escape – and it’s the stuff of nightmares

THE Yorkshire Vet star Matt Jackson-Smith has recalled his horror as he discussed how he recently lost a patient’s pet snake.

The popular Channel 5 show returned to screens this month and the vets have already been tasked with a number of difficult and challenging situations. 

But Matt left fans horrified when he recounted one particularly scary appearance during a chat on Channel 4 programme Steph’s Packed Lunch.

The TV star revealed that it hadn’t just been one snake he had lost either - it was TWO!

Steph asked Matt: “We’re seeing more snakes about, aren’t we?”

Matt replied: “People keep talking about stories of seeing more snakes around.”

Matt continued to recall how he may have contributed to the talking points around more and more missing snakes. 

He said: “I had one that escaped and ended up at the local cricket club a few weeks later!”

He went onto add: “I’ve had one that I’ve lost and it’s turned up a year later, sunning itself on the patio, you know?

“The neighbours were having new windows put in and they took out the old windows and the snake just dropped down!

“I’ve never seen someone put her tools back in the box as quick as that!”

Matt also discussed with TV presenter Steph about the unusual method in which he uses in order to discover the sex of a snake which he had to do during the third episode of the latest series of the hit show. 

Elsewhere in the third episode, vet Julian Norton had to perform an emergency blood plasma transfusion on a baby alpaca which he had delivered himself. 

As Julian battled to save the newborn, he was forced to perform the procedure on the grass just outside the front doors of the Thirsk practise. 

As the show returned for the fifteenth series earlier this month, vet Peter was needed to help treat a pregnant sheep whose owners had concerns that one of the lambs she was carrying may have died. 

The vet was on hand who insisted on a C-section for the sheep in an attempt to safely deliver its two babies. 

As the procedure began, the first lamb was delivered and instantly needed ‘swaying’ in order to get it going amid growing concern.

Thankfully, the lamb perked up and was soon getting used to its surroundings on the floor as the second much bigger lamb was then safely delivered bringing much needed relief and delight to its owners.
