Fern Britton makes dig at ex-This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield amid ‘queue jump’ controversy

FERN Britton has made a cryptic dig at her former co-star Phillip Schofield, who she hosted This Morning with for seven years.

Rumours of tension between Fern and Phil have been swirling for years - and it seems it may still be ongoing.

One of the most recent is when Fern claimed she wasn’t invited to the BAFTA Film Awards to help celebrate This Morning’s 30th anniversary.

Fern has now rekindled speculation there is a feud, as she made a cryptic dig on social media.

Taking to Twitter, she questioned: “There’s a VIP queue?” which appears to be in reference to Phillip and Holly being accused of jumping the lengthy queue to file past the Queen.

Fans quickly assumed she was talking about her former co-star, as they rushed to the post to share their thoughts on the controversial subject.

Alongside an array of angry-faced emojis, one person penned: "Read the room Phil and Holly! Susanna Reid queued with her mum. That's what you do."

Echoing their comments, someone else said: "I hope when they are next on This Morning they both have the decency to apologise to the thousands of people young and old, some with disabilities who have queued

While a third added: "Whether they were filming a segment for This Morning or not, it doesn't matter. They should have shown some respect and queued like the rest of us!"

Taking to Instagram on Saturday evening, ITV rushed to the defence of the pair.

A statement on the programme’s social media account said: “Hello everyone, we would like to clarify something. We asked Phillip and Holly to be part of a film for this Tuesday’s programme.

“They did not jump the queue, have VIP access or file past the Queen lying in state - but instead were there in a professional capacity as part of the world’s media to report on the event."

Other famous faces have also paid their respects to the Queen ahead of her funeral.

Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid said she had queued for seven hours and 20 minutes to see the lying-in-state.

And David Beckham won praise after he joined the queue at 2am on Friday, waiting 12 hours with the public before he reached the coffin.
