All Creatures Great and Small cast: Who stars in the TV series?

CHANNEL 5's hit remake of the 1970's series, All Creatures Great and Small is finally returning to our screens.

It's been nearly a year since fans followed the adventures of young vet James Herriot in the Yorkshire-based TV series.

Who is in the cast of All Creatures Great and Small? 

As season three hit's our screens, some familiar faces will be returning - and some new cast members will be joining the series as we see James Herriot and Helen Alderson tie the knot. 

Here's who will be starring in the cast of All Creatures Great and Small.

Nicholas Ralph

Nicholas Ralph is a Scottish actor who currently plays veterinary surgeon, James Herriot in Channel 5's All Creatures Great and Small.

Prior to his first starring role as James Herriot, Nicholas Ralph starred in the films The Most Reluctant Convert and Prey for the Devil.

Nicholas has admitted that he enjoys the challenge of having to act a little emotional in certain scenes where James has to be vulnerable.

Speaking of the lead writer of the show, he said: “He gives you these opportunities and you just want to grab it with both hands and really find the truth of it.

“Hopefully people watch it and feel something from it and recognise it. If that happens then it’s wonderful.”

Samuel West

Samuel West is an English actor and theatre director who plays Siegfried Farnon in the 2020 remake of the veterinary drama series.

Viewers may recognise West from films and TV shows such as Mr Selfridge and Notting Hill.

Speaking of his role as Siegfried, he said: I should say that this is one of the things I'm most proud of.

“Not only to be working at a time when many of my friends aren't but to be doing such a great part in such an iconic story that means so much to people, not just in Yorkshire, but all over the world."

Anna Madeley

Anna Madeley is an English actress whois once again returning as fan-favourite Mrs Hall.

And this isn't her first time on our screens, Madeley has also appeared in a number of TV and film productions - including, In Bruges, Anatomy of a Scandal and Silent Witness.

Discussing her role within season three, Anna Madeley said: “In season three, I hope she’s able to reconcile with her son. I think that would be a wonderful thing, especially given the prospect of the political situation in the world.''

Callum Woodhouse

Callum Woodhouse is a British actor best known for his portrayal of Leslie Durrell in all four seasons of ITV comedy-drama series The Durrells.

He is also known for playing the character of Josh Marsden in ITV comedy-drama series Cold Feet.

But now he's back on our screens as Tristan Farnon, the younger brother of Siegfried Farnon.

Speaking prior to the filming of season three, Woodhouse explained how the cast knew little about how the latest season was going to play out.

He said: "We honestly don't really know. In a way I like that and in a way I don't. It is quite nice seeing it. 

"I mean, we have a general idea. I imagine there's still going to be some animals that need taking care of."

Rachel Shenton

Rachel Shenton is is an English actress, screenwriter, and activist known for playing Mitzeee Minniver on the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks.

As well as making her way into the world of soaps, Shenton has also starred as Lily Summers in Switched at Birth and Joanne Scott in BBC2 comedy White Gold.

Now she returns as Helen Anderson, James Herriot's love interest.

Speaking of the upcoming wedding fans are eager to see, Rachel said: "Yes, they do get married, but like any TV wedding, there are bumps along the way, the wedding dress is beautiful.

''Our costume designer is brilliant and we wanted something that felt and looked right."

When is All Creatures Great and Small on Channel 5?

All Creatures Great and Small season three will premiere on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 9pm on Channel 5 - and there are seven episodes for fans to enjoy.

The episode will also be repeated at 5pm on September 17 and 8pm on September 20.

All episodes will air at the same time weekly and they will be available to watch on My5 shortly after they are first broadcast.

The last two series consisted of six hour long episodes and a Christmas special, and this latest instalment will follow the same format.
