BBC1’s weekend schedule revealed as EastEnders and Casualty make way for coverage of the Queen
The BBC has revealed its main channel will remain dedicated to coverage of the Royals until Sunday.
Many of its popular shows will be moved to BBC Two while the broadcaster focuses on the death of Elizabeth II and the ushering in of Charles III.
BBC One will air a mixture of news specials and televised tributes to the Queen over the weekend.
Saturday will see documentaries including an edition of The One Show at 6.45pm titled Our Queen Remembered.
There will also be an hour-long film called When the Queen Spoke to the Nation at 9pm.
It's first non-Royal programme will be coverage of the Great North Run at 10am on Sunday.
Among the shows that will be moving to BBC Two are Friday night's EastEnders at 7.30pm, which was postponed from Thursday.
Saturday night's Casualty is also moving and will be at 8.10pm.
BBC Two will also show films, with The Secret Life of Pets 2 and Brooklyn additions to Saturday's schedule.
The postponement of football games this weekend means there will be no Match of the Day.
Elsewhere, the National Television Awards, which were due to take place on Thursday and be broadcast on ITV, have been postponed until October.
ITV revealed earlier that it would be breaking off from royal coverage on Saturday night to air some of its big entertainment shows.
The Masked Dancer, The Voice UK and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? will all be shown.
They will be aired after a day of ITV News specials and documentaries about the Queen's life.
