Sir Tom Jones reveals his pre-gig ritual to keep his hip fit – hanging UPSIDE DOWN
SIR Tom Jones keeps hip — by hanging upside down like a bat before gigs.
The Voice mentor, 82, had his left hip replaced in 2017 and now needs his right done too.
But he finds using an inversion table in his dressing room eases the pressure on his joints and nerves.
Sir Tom, currently walking with a cane, said: “I hang upside down. It’s anti-gravity. You get on it, lock your ankles in and go upside down.
“I do it just before I go on stage when I’m doing live shows and that’s why I can do four songs on the trot, because it’s pulled my leg down.
“I do it for about three or four minutes.”

He went on: “You can’t panic. Some people panic. People come into my dressing room and are like, ‘What’s that?’ And I’ll say it’s an inversion table, ‘Do you want to try it?’
"And then they go upside down and panic as you’ve got to get used to breathing upside down — you’ve got to relax.
“It’s fantastic, but you have to come up slowly and don’t get off it until you’re up the right way.
“I also have to use a walking stick. I do a lot performing from the stool.

“I do, like, four songs standing up and then it starts to hurt a lot so I sit down.”
Speaking ahead of the new Voice series, which launched on ITV last night, Tom said he has no plans to retire and is about to embark on a US tour.

He said: “I’ll still be performing when I’m 100, if I can.
“When I was young I used to say I’ll be doing it until I was 97, but it’s not that far away now.”
