Legendary TV show The Osbournes set to return to British telly – with big new change

THE Osbournes are returning to TV screens — with the BBC bringing back their wild reality show to chart Sharon and Ozzy’s UK homecoming.

The couple’s antics, revealing their chaotic family life behind closed doors, became an international sensation when the show first aired on MTV 20 years ago.

Now, the BBC’s new series will track their move back to the UK from Los Angeles.

A TV industry source said: “More from the Osbournes has been discussed a lot over the years. They’re internationally renowned and telly execs have long thought it would be great to do a new show.

“Until now they haven’t been able to make something happen but, after they moved back to Britain, the idea was floated to them again — and this time Sharon’s keen. It has prompted a lot of excitement.”

Ozzy, who has had a string of health scares, recently confirmed plans to return permanently to the UK to the home they already own in Buckinghamshire.

In 2019, he had a fall while using the loo in the middle of the night, dislodging metal rods in his back from a 2003 quad bike crash which nearly killed him.

The fall left him in agony for three years and needing surgery earlier this year. The rocker was also diagnosed with a form of Parkinson’s disease in 2019.

The Osbournes show ran for four seasons on MTV. It followed Sharon and Ozzy’s lives with children Kelly and Jack in LA — although eldest daughter, Aimee, refused to take part.

The drama included Sharon’s battle with cancer and the aftermath of Ozzy’s bike crash.

But it also became well known for its swearing and hysterical scenes, including their dogs regularly pooing on the floor — to the rocker’s horror — and the family’s personal assistant desperately trying to control an unruly Jack.

Our industry source added: “This is likely to focus much more on Sharon and Ozzy but they’re still very close to their kids. Kelly just had a baby and they’re in touch with Jack all the time, too. They’d definitely appear at times and be involved.”

In an exclusive interview with The Sun last month, Ozzy said: “I cannot f***ing wait to get back. I mean, it’s OK being in America but I’m English.”

He performed with his Black Sabbath bandmates at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony in his native Birmingham last month and plans to tour soon.

“Now they are coming ‘home to roost’, back to their family home, pretty much as they left it all those years ago.

“In this new series BBC One viewers will be able to follow the family as they settle back into their new life in a Buckinghamshire village….it promises to be a funny, moving and honest insight into their new life back in the UK.”
