The Grand Tour boss reveals dream location for next series – but there’s a big problem
THE Grand Tour’s boss has revealed his dream location for the next series – but there’s a big problem.
The Amazon Prime Video series will be back on our screens very soon with the latest special: The Grand Tour Presents: A Scandi Flick.
It sees Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May travel to a remote part of Norway to race rally cars in extreme winter conditions.
Previous specials have also seen the trio travel to Madagascar, Cambodia and Vietnam, and the team are always on the look out for their next impressive destination.
Executive Producer Andy Wilman revealed the next special has already been shot in Eastern Europe, before sharing details of the place that has so far remained unobtainable to them.
Speaking to The Sun Online, he said: “We have always wanted to go – for its beauty – to Iran, but we’ve never managed to get in there, it’s just tricky and tricky and tricky.

“That’s always been on our….Christ knows what we would do but we’ve always wanted to go there. That’s our number one.”
Meanwhile Richard, 52, also spoke about the difficulties the show faced when choosing destinations to film in.
He said: “We’re always casting around but it becomes increasingly difficult looking at the world, obviously, because a lot of it is at war or inaccessible and that’s a sad truth.”
As for where he would like to go next, he said: “I don’t know, we’re always looking. I love our adventures, I’ve been so, so lucky to get to do it.
“I’m just an idiot little bloke from Birmingham who 20 years ago was given the chance and I’m very grateful.”
The show’s international travels had to be put on hold during the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns, but the team still managed to produce to great specials, one filmed in Scotland and one focusing on French cars but filmed in the UK.
While Richard makes no bones about loving to travel the world with the show, he thoroughly enjoyed the last two specials on home turf.
He explained: “We made those two shows under lockdown conditions and I’m not in anyway decrying those or doing those down, I thought they were brilliant.
“And they reminded us that it’s not just about having the most spectacular locations, it’s sometimes just about us three being idiots together, sharing our passion for cars in a different way.
“It stripped us back to reminding us who we really are and it doesn’t need to be somewhere inaccessible, so it did us good actually.”
The Grand Tour Presents: A Scandi Flick premieres on Amazon Prime Video on September 16 2022.
