Love Island viewers have been eagerly awaiting the moment Luca would ask partner Gemma, 19, to be his girlfriend.

The pair - who were runner's up in this year's series of the ITV2 dating show - had been out of the villa for over a month before going official with their romance.

Luca had been waiting to meet Gemma's family, including her former footballer star dad Michael, before asking her to be his girlfriend.

The fishmonger turned reality star FINALLY asked her the all-important question over the bank holiday weekend - but fans were seriously distracted by one element.

The sweet "girlfriend proposal" looked to have been professionally filmed, thanks to a glossy video posted to social media.

The clip showed Gemma and Luca from a number of angles as he surprised her with a live string quarter beside a floral display.

Luca was seen surprising his girlfriend with an expensive Cartier bracelet, before showing her balloons laid out on a pool, spelling out: "Be my girlfriend".

The pair were filmed laughing, cuddling and kissing - and fans couldn't help but wonder who was behind the camera during the intimate moment at home.

Taking to Twitter, one asked: "Who filmed this, how awkward was it?" as a second chimed: "Why are they acting like they're still on love island? Very odd behaviour."

A third said: "This man got a whole camera crew?" while a fourth added: "Cartier bracelet and a whole camera crew is so subtle."

"The production of this video probably cost more than their last Love Island date," a fifth joked. "You'd think it was an add for Cartier."

The girlfriend proposal saw Gemma left gasping as she opened a mega-money bracelet in front of a pool strewn with flowers.

She was given the gift after being led down a corridor lined with dozens of rose petals and candles.

She was later shown putting on the Juste Un Clou bracelet, which costs between £2,890 and £10,800 - depending on the model.

The sweet moment was captured in a video to the tune of Why I Love You by American singer-songwriter Major.
