The trip had a special place in Jane’s heart as both her dad and brother worked down the mines when she was growing up.

Jane was introduced to Shaun and soon kitted out with her helmet ready to go 140m below the surface down a narrow mineshaft.

As he described it all, Jane admitted: “I’m starting to feel a bit sick.”

She then asked Shaun: “Is it scary down there?” but he reassured her it was fine.

However, the star said she was “a bit nervous” and when he showed her how narrow the mineshaft was, she said: “I definitely feel sick now.”

As she climbed into the cage lift to go down, Shaun warned her there would be a “short drop” then it would “be in control”.

Despite the warning, Jane still screamed when the lift jolted into action and dropped.

Thankfully she reached the bottom safely, and enjoyed being shown around the types of areas where her dad and brother would have worked.

It isn’t the first time Jane has been a bit nervous about an activity during one of her travel shows.

On a trip to Florida, Jane was apprehensive about getting in the water with some manatees.

Despite her trepidation, Jane donned her wetsuit and snorkelling gear and jumped in.

Once she’d come face to face with a manatee, she said from the water: “They’re just so flaccid and big.

“I must admit I was a bit nervous when it came for me, I thought this is it.

“But they didn’t, they just went past me, so you know, it just thought ‘Oh one of them.’

“So it was fine, they were not gumming me today and I’m pleased to hear it.”
