The Channel 4 show sees old historic houses be transformed into modern and liveable homes.

Last night’s episode saw architect and presenter George tackle a six-bedroom semidetached late Victorian house in Sydenham, South East London.

He described the abode as “more disastrous than desirable”.

Viewers were introduced to Deputy Headteacher Philip and Partnerships Manager Emily and their two-year-old son Archie.

Emily’s inheritance following her dad’s death enabled the couple to take the plunge and purchase the house.

“Where is the 800k house? I cannot believe that’s what 800k buys you,” said another.

One viewer described the property as being exactly like an EastEnders house on the fictional Albert Square.

“My god you’ve got your work cut out,” George told the pair after seeing how bad the condition of the house was. “I mean everywhere you look…”

The house’s stunning transformation left viewers – and George stunned – while Emily and Philip revealed they spent £95,000 on the back of the house.

“It’s just better than I could have imagined,” beamed Emily. “Now we’re here it’s amazing.”
