Avery Baker (played by Omar-Lye Fook) was first introduced to soap viewers as with whom tensions had been arising for years.

However, he didn't come to Walford alone as fans also got to know his two sons, Felix (Matthew Morrison) and Finlay.

It wasn't long before the latter were thrown into a gut-wrenching storyline - Avery passed away from cancer in a handful of episodes.

Since then, both Felix and Finlay have made friends in Albert Square while setting up their own business and Finlay has notably grown close to Honey Mitchell.

But some viewers may recognise actor Ashley Byam from his appearances in major films.

In 2015, seven years before his EastEnders debut, and much like Karen Taylor actress Lorraine Stanley, Ashley appeared alongside Tom Hardy in the biopic Legend.

This opened up some considerable doors for Ashley and, one year later, he had the chance to appear in another blockbuster directed by Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts filmmaker David Yates.

He was then cast with Margot Robbie, Samuel L Jackson and Alexander Skarsgård in The Legend of Tarzan (2016), in which he portrayed the role of Kasai.

Ashley has been accustomed to the spotlight since an early age.

Born in East London, he was quickly enrolled in drama and dance classes by his mother but only pursued an acting career in his late teens.

He appeared in a touring production of Romeo and Juliet in 2011, which was his first try at acting.

As his TV and film career grows, many soap fans may be unaware Ashley is an accomplished stage name, having appeared at the Royal National Theatre in London and starred in an international tour of The Velveteen Rabbit.

But what does life in Albert Square have in store for him?

EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday from 7.30pm.
