Ellie is best known for her appearances on axed comedy series The Mash Report and 8 Out Of 10 Cats and hit show Ted Lasso.

She plays Flo 'Sassy' Collins - Rebecca's best friend and Ted's (Jason Sudeikis) on/off love interest.

Mum-of-one Ellie said: “Well, cover me in fake tan and roll me in sequins! I'm absolutely over the moon to be a part of Strictly 2022!

"I've watched the show for years so to be able to take to the dance floor is a dream come true, for both me and mum who is a Strictly super fan!

"At the moment I'm focusing on the excitement and glitter and choosing to ignore the fact that I have the dancing ability of a newly born giraffe. Bring it on!"

Chatting to Ranvir Singh on Lorraine after her big reveal, the Plebs actress admitted: “It is so nice to release it to the universe. I found out a few months ago. I have managed to keep it in.”

Asked how she reacted to being asked, she revealed: “It was an immediate yes. I have wanted to do it forever and more importantly my mum loves it.”

She does however admit she isn’t a dancer, saying: “I can’t dance. But at a wedding, give me a vodka and I will have a dance.

“The thing is when I perform comedy I am quite clowny and limby, I have never been elegant.”

Ellie continued: “I would love to find a joy in dancing, and find the freedom.”

Yesterday popstar Matt Goss— famous for being part of Eighties idols Bros with his brother Luke — and KISS FM DJ Tyler West were revealed to be the latest names battling it out for the Glitterball.

They will join previously confirmed contestants including Two Pints of Lager actor Will Mellor, 46, and Kym Marsh, also 46, Loose Women star Kaye Adams, 59, and Radio 2's Richie Anderson, 34.

Four new professional dancers will appear in the new series of Strictly, creating the show's largest ever roster.

It comes after two-time winner Oti Mabuse and Aljaz Skorjanec announced their departures.

The last series was won by Rose Ayling-Ellis with professional partner Giovanni Pernice.

The forthcoming 20th series will see audiences return to the studio, with the launch show scheduled to be recorded on September 7.
