I’m an antiques expert – here’s how to make money on a ‘worthless’ item picked up as junk
A PREVIOUS episode of the Antiques Roadshow saw as one man brought on an apparently 'worthless' item.
The BBC show welcomed a guest who wowed the audience with his incredible antique with an amazing back-story.
The episode's specialist listened as the owner of a German spy flask explained it's history, as it made its way all the way from the World War One.
Viewers were astounded after the expert explained that the item - without its back-story - would be worth next to nothing.
During the show, the specialist explained: "Some of the items we get on the roadshow are quite innocuous.
"If you looked at them on their own in a junk shop you probably wouldn't look twice at them.

"As an ordinary item in a junk shop the flask would be worthless."
However, he concluded that the story itself gave the item value, adding: "It is quite an extraordinary little object, with the story attached to it, obviously has some value.
"I would put perhaps £150-200 on it."
This segment on the German spy flask was part of a special edition of the series.
