BEN THROUGH HELL

EastEnders fans rip into Ben Mitchell’s ‘unrealistic’ hospital scenes – but can you see why?

THE drama was taken up a notch during last night's trip to the Square.

Ben Mitchell was rushed to hospital following a horrific overdose and EastEnders viewers complained the scenes were unrealistic.

Suki Panesar left the Walford troublemaker, portrayed by Max Bowden, in a critical state after he overdosed.

On Monday, Ben was lying unconscious following a drug-fuelled party with his old friend James.

Meanwhile, his daughter Lexi was having a family dinner and his absence broke her heart.

But after listening to a voicemail he had left for the girl, Ben's estranged husband Callum Highway and his friend Jay Brown went out to look for him.

Ben was found where he had been left by the ruthless businesswoman as revenge for her son Jags' death - in a pile of bin bags right outside The Arches.

In dramatic scenes, paramedics were called after Callum attempted CPR on him and it seemed like this could be the end of Ben.

Some viewers remained sceptic, with one of them penning: "Nah, they won't kill Ben off, not on a Tuesday."

The soap fan pointed out the BBC One show had accustomed its viewers to some unrealistic drama: "That would be the last episode of the week."

"This is EastEnders, probably not been breathing for an hour yet they'll still bring him back to life."

Ben was brought to A&E and flatlined right in front of Callum, Jay, his mother Kathy Beale and his father Phil Mitchell, who dropped his takeaway food when the news was broken to him.

Eventually, Ben was revived but some nit-picky viewers questioned the scenes, believing his recovery was far too dramatic.

"I'm aware Easties isn't real", one wrote, "but a bit of effort to maintain a sense of reality would have been good in tonight's episode."

They added: "Right on Ben's chest with no airway clearance, no head tilt, no intubation, no oxygen, no line, then still no oxygen on arrival at hospital!"

A second viewer agreed: "Having been in a similar situation trying to keep someone alive until the paramedics arrived, I'm finding Ben's colour too 'alive'."

"If he's not been breathing his pallor would have been just white with a more blue tinge. What's it take EE to get makeup right."

One eagle-eyed fan then pointed out: "So they do CPR on ben in the street .. yet arrives at hospital no leads, mask or any sign of assistance."

"These hospital scenes are so unrealistic really, it's laughable", another complained.

Although he was pulled away from death's door, Ben still remained unconscious, while Phil tried to make sense of what had happened.

The episode ended as the Walford tough man found out from his former wife Sharon Watts that Ben had been supplied with drugs by a dealer in Peggy's - and Phil's sister Sam was well aware of it.
