Vicky Pattison: My Dad, Alcohol and Me will air tonight, (August 2) at 10pm, and the fly-on-the-wall special brings up a lot of emotions.

Growing up, the former Geordie Shore star's dad was a functioning alcoholic, and is still a heavy drinker today.

Vicky details how although she better understands the situation now in her 30s, she can't shake how much of an impact her dad's heavy drinking had on her and their family.

The I'm A Celeb winner is now the same age as her dad was when his own addiction took hold, and she's admitted that she's scared she could meet the same fate.

The star is worried that there may be some form of genetic link to alcoholism, and that a problem of her own might be inevitable.

During the one-off special, Vicky breaks down in tears while speaking to a family mediator with her father.

She and fiancé Ercan Ramadan are planning to have children, and Vicky admits she's terrified John won't be around to meet them.

She says: "I really want to be a mam. I really want to have kids.

"I want my kids to meet you. I'm so worried dad that if you don't stop drinking, and you don't get a proper handle on it, that you won't meet them.

"That really scares us. I can't go through it anymore."

John replies: "There's days I know I won't be able to walk past the booze shop.

"It would be a lie if I say I'll never drink again to you.

"I'll try my absolute hardest."

His reaction isn't enough for Vicky, and the star is left feeling hopeless and frustrated.

She goes on to tell her dad that he really needs to commit to stop drinking in order to remain a part of her life.

Speaking about the reasons behind filming the documentary, Vicky said: "I've wanted to make this documentary in one form or another for years, but in retrospect, I was not in the right place to make it.

"I was still struggling with an awful lot of my own issues around alcohol.

"I think for me, so much of who I am and who I'm becoming is being shaped by my childhood, by my dad's illness."

The star continues: "I kind of think I had this burning desire for people to understand why I was the way I was. But also, for everyone to understand alcoholism more as a disease.
